Cat Cude – Founder, Trailhead Tutoring
Trailhead Tutoring is the culmination of my life’s work—shaped by my challenges, successes, and a personal journey that defied the odds. Although I now hold both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree specializing in Conservation Biology, along with over 12 years of teaching experience, my journey to this point was far from conventional
As a teenager, I struggled in school despite being told I had “potential.” The adults around me often failed to connect with me, and some even caused harm. I ultimately dropped out of high school and earned my GED. It was an alternative school teacher’s belief in me—and a $1,000 scholarship—that changed my trajectory. I worked the graveyard shift at IHOP and enrolled at San Antonio Community College.
I wasn’t college-ready. I started at the bottom, taking three levels of remedial math before reaching College Algebra. But during that time, something shifted. I discovered my capability, developed a love for learning, and slowly built the executive function skills I lacked.
Fast forward 20 years: I’m an educator, a mother of three (including a high schooler, a UT student, and a 4-month-old), and the founder of Trailhead Tutoring. My passion is helping teens navigate the complexities of adolescence, develop essential academic and life skills, and rediscover their curiosity and confidence.
Trailhead Tutoring is more than just a tutoring service—it’s a bridge to possibility. We combine academic support, test preparation, and life coaching to take a holistic approach to student growth. We know that real learning happens when students feel seen, heard, and supported. Our goal is not only to improve grades but to equip students with the tools and confidence they need to build the future they deserve.
